Physician Training Should Include Liberal Arts

There is a dire shortage of physicians in this country:

20,000—Current shortage of physicians in the US

52,000—Number of primary care physicians the US will need by 2025

But we have to give promising young students a reason to begin the long and arduous road required by the medical profession.  Here's an article introducing the new Dell Medical School at UT Austin. I am proud to be quoted regarding the importance of including a liberal arts education in the training of physicians: "Without this grounding in the humanities, medicine would be solely a business transaction."  Follow the link to read more.
